Yoga can be practiced anywhere without any particular equipment. But this does not mean that yoga equipment is completely elminated. Yoga equipment helps you to do the postures properly and comfortably.

The yoga equipment helps you to achieve proper alignment, balance and makes the pose easier to do. Also practicing yoga with equipments helps to lessen out stress and strain while doing different yoga postures. Yoga equipments also help support muscles, from getting injured. It also helps to save energy by exerting less effort on a pose.

Basic equipments you need to start yoga:

Yoga Mats: This yoga equipment provides cushioning on a hard floor; this is specially needed if your yoga studio floor is made up of cement or hard wood floor. Also mats help you from slipping and provides grip for the hands and feet.

Yoga Bolsters: It provides support for your spine, abdomen and legs while practicing different poses.

Yoga Blankets: This equipment helps you feel relaxed and comfortable which is important.

Yoga Straps: These straps are made out of cotton or nylon. This allows you to grab your body part, which you are not able to otherwise.

These equipment are helpful for people who are at the beginners level or to people who are suffering from ailments or are elderly people.
